In 1999, God gave vision for an evangelistic ministry for the specific purpose of outreach. The visionary intent of this ministry is to claim and reclaim souls for Christ. After much deliberation and prayer, and some four years later,...the Lord permitted the name "EL" to be lifted up in Rev. Scott's spirit. His wife, Joyce, having confessed a call on her life, has long been a prayer partner and encouraging participant in the pastoral and evangelistic ministry of Rev. Scott as he facilitated a labor of love in 22 years of pastoral ministry at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She has been, and continues to be a tremendous inspiration for ministry that gives God the glory. Together they sought the leading of the Holy Spirit, and prayerfully asked directions for a name and purpose for this ministry. We believe that the Lord has supplied that focus, and also already opened doors for effectual service in this extension of evangelistic ministry through E.L. Ministries.
The name of EL is very important in scripture. "EL" is one of the first words that is given as a name that is ascribed in the Hebrew for God. Hence,...E.L. Ministries..........God's ministries,...and Everlasting Life Ministries. God has already blessed this site through your visitation. We are glad you stopped by and we solicit your prayers as we continue to build this site for His glory. May this ministry site be a blessing to all who willingly labor in His vineyard, and ascribe to the lifting up of our fellowman through the empowerment of God's Holy Word in our daily walk and purposes.
What's In A Name?
Names are tremendously important to us. In olden days, they were used to reveal something of the character or nature of the person named. One's name is a personal connection, a unique part of who an individual is.
Names in Biblical times were very important. They were given to reveal a person's character. As we read through Scripture we can see the importance of names. But the greatest name has to be the names of God! He has been given many names and each reveals Him in a different way.
God's names represent His attributes, His nature.
I think it is important that we know God by name.....I hope you are encouraged and uplifted as you read these names of God and I would urge you to take time to worship Him daily by calling upon Him and even learning to use His various names....to do so will be an awesome experience in knowing God.
